Nose Job Costs: Low Price Shopping

         Concentrating on Price alone?

Some rhinoplasty surgeons report that a serious percentage of people wanting a nose job are price shopping first and considering surgeons who charge the least.

There are more than a few reasons why those patients may have the cart before the horse.

First, rhinoplasty is widely known as the most difficult procedure in all cosmetic plastic surgery to get right. Statistics prove it.

One professional cosmetic facial surgery organization found that up to 25 percent of first nose jobs are botched so that yet another procedure, known as revision rhinoplasty is needed for the patient to:

  • Breathe well
  • Have a nose that blends in with the other facial features.

So, if you are price sensitive to costs — as are most of us  — you really, really want a rhinoplasty to be done correctly, the first time.

If you are put off by rhinoplasty costs (in U.S. larger cities a first rhinoplasty done well by an expert surgeon can run $10K to $15,000) you will be absolutely flabbergasted over expenses in revision rhinoplasty, the procedure correcting a badly done first rhinoplasty.

Part of any cosmetic surgery consultation is a very specific fee quotation and a look to see if your insurance will provide any benefits for functional nose surgery to help your breathing.

Revision rhinoplasty is much more difficult and takes longer because the nose’s anatomy and navigation signs have been changed by that unsuccessful rhinoplasty.

Moreover, performing excellent rhinoplasty requires years of training and some serious testing. The very best nose surgeons will have had a Fellowship, working for a year at the side of a Master nose surgeon.

The surgeon should be board certified by:

  • The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
  • Otolaryngology (the study of ear, nose and throat surgery.)

A  top, go-to surgeon will have a large collection of before & after pictures proving excellent results on past patients.

Many former patients will have penned warm thank you notes. Few mention costs.

For a nose job or any other procedure, find a cosmetic surgeon who has been doing that particular surgery at least weekly for a decade.

All of the above relates to highly skilled surgeons providing a better nose……for your lifetime.

Patients should check all of the above because some M.D.-level doctors trained in other areas like gynecology or radiology often take a quick course in performing a cosmetic surgery and then offering it to the public, at low costs.

Result? Some doctors are learning nasal cosmetic surgery by practicing on people who tend to price shop for low costs first.
