Chin augmentation plays a big role in the symmetry of the face and neck. Like many other enhancing procedures, chin augmentation helps to balance the profile and strengthen a weak chin to complement the face. This procedure may be combined with an extended neck sculpture or face and neck lift (through common incision). With Dr. Kotler’s years of unparalleled experience, he carefully examines the patient to customize the implant to the patient’s dimensions and structure. The implant is placed through a small incision under the chin.

For the First Several Months
Stitch Removal
Stitches are removed from the hidden under-the-chin incision beginning on the 4th, 5th or 6th day after surgery. “Steri-strips” or a “butterfly” dressing may be applied at that time for wound support for an additional several days.
Returning to Normal Activities
5 to 7 days. If there is bruising, it can be concealed with make-up.
1 Week Later
Numbness about the chin usually begins to subside. The incision still feels lumpy which is perfectly normal. Lower lip stiffness which may be present initially after surgery, begins to abate.
For the First Several Months
Within 3 months after surgery, the hairline incision under the chin has matured to become fine, soft and nearly invisible. For the first 6 months, those patients with dark skin should use a sunscreen to protect the incision, particularly during the summer.
