1. Winter’s Here: Simple Fixes For Dry Skin And Noses

For dry skin, moisturizers that agree with your skin. Price is not related to quality. At your next office visit, request samples of reliable, economical products.

Dry noses are a bigger problem because during winter, indoor air is heated by furnaces and the moisture level is low. Counter with a humidifier in your bedroom, keep the window open a bit to bring in the fresh and moist air. Saline nasal spray, used several times a day is ideal. Ask us for samples.

Whether after rhinoplasty surgery, with or without nasal septoplasty and turbinate resection to enlarge the air passages, the nose loves moisture and hates dryness. The dryness can predispose to virus infections, such as colds and even viral flu. The nose is the entry portal.

Recent medical papers in medical journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, reported that for common post-operative pain, opioids may not be necessary. We’re all aware of the problems with them. Combining acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) proved as effective as mid-level opioids such as hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco), oxycodone (Percocet).
