Usually, sagging upper eyelids start to show in the late 30s or early 40s. It happens because eyelid skin is paper thin and starts to stretch with passing years. For most people, sagging upper eyelids are the first marks of normal aging. Also, the muscle that lifts and opens the eyelids – the levator muscle – loses its strength over time and does not lift the eyelid as much, making the sagging appear worse.
